Frequently Asked QuestionsQ. Why would I make this kind of investment?
A. A pair of Ildikó Gál® bespoke shoes will last for at least 15 years. Many of our aches and pains come from wearing uncomfortable shoes. If you wear the right hand-made pair crafted just for you, (after having your feet digitally scanned), your medical problems originating from wearing the wrong footwear will be gone.
Q. How do I care for my Ildikó Gál shoes?
A. First and foremost, you should not wear them for more than 8 to 10 hours a day. Let the shoes completely dry out, then carefully place the shoetree in them. Make sure that you remove all dirt and residue before shining. You should always use waxed shoe polish – as opposed to silicone-based – to be applied evenly and thinly. Let it dry for about 20 minutes, and then buff your Ildikó Gál ® up!
Q. Where does Ildikó Gál buy the skins for its shoes?
A. We buy from all over the world. For example, calf from Italy, horsehide from Chicago, and leather for soles are purchased in Germany from J. Rendenbach. Our exotics, such as ostrich, crocodile, alligator, shark, lizard, and stingray come from – yes, you guessed it – from exotic places. We comply with international regulations regarding the Convention on International Trade and Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora( Cites ).
Q. What makes Ildikó Gál shoes durable and comfortable?
A. One of the secrets is in the tanning. Oak bark and acorns are soaked in water and then poured into concrete pits, where skins are placed for 6 months to a year lending not only gorgeous skin color, but durability and silky comfort.
